In May 2026, SLOCOG and San Miguel Community Friends scoped out a protected bike/pedestrian lane for Bike & Roll to School Day at Lillian Larsen Elementary. Of parents surveyed, 90% said they would consider allowing their children to travel to school independently, rather than being driven, if the improvements were made permanent. The project was inspired by SLOCOG's 'Road to Zero' Regional Road Safety Walk Audits conducted in 2025 and in conversations at Lillian Larsen's Community Meal Night.
