In Fall 2025, Cal Poly Landscape Architecture 405 students worked alongside Lucia Mar Unified School District to develop schematic design solutions for an underutilized area on the Oceano Elementary campus, envisioning opportunities for outdoor access and play in a community with limited green space. Their concepts included shaded seating, walking paths, and play areas. They also considered usability by residents of all ages, with the hope that the larger community would utilize the space on the weekends and after school for gathering and connection.
